Monday the Rangers took on Kansas City for game 2 of spring training in Surprise, Arizona.
Monday as Bruce Chen took the mound to start the game it looked like it might be an easy W for our Red Shoed Rangers. Well guess again. In the 1st after a A. Beltre single Kinsler and Andrus both score to go up really early in the game. Oh, let’s not forget about that Murphy single to also score A. Beltre.
Now Derek Holland takes the mount and has a shut down inning and gets 3 outs on 4 batters.
Top 2nd, Elvis TRIPLES on a line drive and Ian scores.
Pitching change. On comes Louis Coleman.
- Beltre singles on a line drive to center and Elvis scores.
Bottom 2nd. Lorenzo Cain double and Jeff Francoeur scores.
Top 4th, Beltre doubles and Elvis scores.
Bottom 5th, Gordon homers off Mitch Stetter and Alcides Escobar scores.
Bottom 6th, Neal Cotts gives up 2 runs to Will Myers and Irving Falu when Derrick Robinson singles.
Bottom 9th, Tanner Scheppers gets trampled on and walks 2 batters. Kelvin De La Cruz comes in and walks a batter to load the bases with no outs. Then Will Myers grounds into a double play with a good heads up play by Alberto Gonzalez to get Chris Getz out at home. The here comes Kevin Kouzmenoff and he doubles and Mike Moustakas and Will Myers both score and its BALL GAME.
2 things I really took out of this game. 1. Derek Holland pitched very well. Only gave up 1 run and that is ok with me. Ogando also pitched very well. 2. On to the bats, they are alive!! Bring on the regular season and they will be here and popping!!
